Jon Arton
Introducing
Jon Arton at Chapters
Jon Arton is a realism tattoo artist. With a background in traditional fine art, Jon first made a name for himself through hyper-detailed pencil portraits – gaining widespread recognition not just for his incredible talent, but also for his light-hearted, viral responses to requests for free art online. His skill with a pencil and sense of humour quickly earned him a loyal following and global attention.
In 2019, Jon transitioned from paper to skin, undertaking a tattoo apprenticeship under renowned artist Gem Pin. With his deep foundation in traditional art, the shift into tattooing came naturally. His fine-art sensibilities carried over into his tattoo work, where he now specialises in black-and-grey realism, while increasingly exploring the possibilities of colour. Every piece he creates showcases precision, depth, and emotion – whether it’s a soft, expressive portrait or a dramatic, large-scale composition.
What sets Jon apart is his ability to capture true likeness and feeling, bringing images to life with smooth shading, technical finesse, and a grounded sense of structure. Clients travel from across the UK to sit in his chair – drawn to his calm, focused approach, his artistic consistency, and his ability to translate deeply personal ideas into powerful, lasting artwork.
He’s dedicated to pushing the boundaries of realism while ensuring every client walks away with a piece that’s not just accurate – but meaningful.
